About the B.A.L.L.E Foundation

Building your West Africa for Healthy Living, Leadership, and Education (B.A.L.L.E Foundation) was founded in 2017 by Dr. Lynette Ametewee, who has worked for over 30 years across health, social care, gender and women’s empowerment, mental health and disability inclusion, sustainable development, creative arts, and fundraising across Africa, the United Kingdom, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

In 2021, the Foundation received official NGO status from the Government of Ghana. From our Accra-based secretariat, we work nationally and through multi-country partnerships across Africa, SIDS, and global innovation networks to advance inclusive, evidence-based development.

Our Mission

Our mission is to transform lives and communities through health research, education, and innovation — combining sport-for-development (S4D), arts, and data-driven approaches to strengthen local leadership and planetary wellbeing.
We use creativity, collaboration, and science to build healthier, more equitable, and more resilient societies — where inclusion, dignity, and opportunity drive sustainable change.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where evidence, empathy, and innovation work together to improve the quality of life for women, children, adolescents, and youth across Ghana, Africa, and SIDS — enabling every community to shape its own path to health, learning, and sustainability.
We aspire to become a hub for collaborative research and development — linking academia, government, and civil society to co-create solutions for planetary health, gender equity, and local resilience.
